For more than three decades, the Alliance has hosted one of Salt Lake City’s premiere fundraising events to support our sister community of Ouelessebougou in Mali, West Africa. Please join us for the 33rd Annual Gala Auction on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Little America Hotel. This amazing evening is a night to celebrate our mission and support the families in our 25 partner villages. This family-friendly event, which hosts over 400 guests, will feature a delicious dinner buffet, an exciting silent and live auction and more. Our silent auction is one of the best in town. It includes a dessert auction with local sweets from over 40 Utah businesses.
Guests can bid on over 150 handcrafted items from Africa which not only supports the Alliance’s programs, but also the local merchants in Mali and surrounding countries. Smaller items can be purchased at our African Market. Our balloon fundraiser is a guest favorite where you can donate and automatically win a prize — then get the chance at one of the grand prizes which includes Disneyland tickets. Come join the fun, experience African culture with live entertainment and learn more about how Ouelessebougou Alliance is transforming thousands of village families.

Is your school or club looking for a good cause to support? Do you want your students to learn about a developing country? Are you a parent volunteer or a member of the PTA looking for a meaningful activity? Then consider partnering with Ouelessebougou Alliance!
We have created unique and fun school partnerships for local elementary, middle/junior and high schools. Utah students can learn more about life in Mali and engage with students in Ouelessebougou through art exchange or pen pal programs. Schools can also help raise funds for the Alliance’s health and education programs. Students, parents, teachers and administrators work together to make a difference. Our partnerships can be customized to meet your needs and we encourage schools to make these projects their own. Whether it’s a one-time event or a year-long partnership, the Alliance will work with you to create a rewarding experience.
School partnerships are a great way to create socially minded students and give them an opportunity to support a global cause. We’ve received school donations of $80 to $8,000 and every penny is appreciated!

The Alliance’s partners are a community working together to provide life-changing tools in one of the world’s most impoverished rural regions. Our partners understand the power of sustainable development — providing not only fish for a day, but also training to fish for a lifetime.
Currently, we are not hosting any service expeditions to Mali. Our ophthalmology and dentistry teams for 2018 are full. We are looking for an OB/GYN to organize and lead an expedition in 2018.
Other volunteer opportunities in Utah come up periodically. These include office or moving help, supporting smaller events, working on special projects or serving on a committee. If you are interested in joining the on-call volunteer list, please email email@example.com.

The Alliance is seeking interns to support our signature fundraising event, the 33rd Annual Gala Auction to be held on May 4, 2019 at Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of fundraising, event planning and marketing while working for a great cause.
Description of Job Duties:
• Solicit in-kind donations for silent auction by phone, email and/or in person visits
• Perform detailed data entry on donors, solicitations and auction items
• Arrange for and/or pick-up silent auction items
• Assist with silent auction packaging, creating gift certificates and other event preparations
• Promote event and recognize donors online and through social media channels
• Assist with event coordination, set-up/clean-up, volunteer management and other duties as assigned
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Ouelessebougou Alliance and humanitarian work
• Comfortable making solicitations, sales and event experience preferred but not required
• Self-motivated and dependable! Committed to finishing projects and requirements of internship
• Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs, Google Docs, data entry, social media, etc.

Salary: Intern will receive a $500 stipend at the completion of the internship. We will also work with students to meet requirements for academic credit.
Schedule: 18 week internship from January 7 – May 10th. Flexible scheduling can be arranged; however, hours must be worked in the office between 9 – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday unless otherwise indicated.
