The 1st and 2nd graders at the Tamala school carefully write letters on their small chalkboards. They listen to their teacher Kadiatou Traurig paying little attention to the two month old baby laying on her desk. Kadiatou is back to work with baby Isa in tow. Kadiatou is 31 years old and a mother 4. She is a dedicated teacher, so much so that she continues to work at the school while caring for her newborn.
Kadiatou grew up and attended school in Ouelessebougou. After graduation, she attended a professional school to learn accounting. Her love of teaching led her to employment at the Alliance’s partner elementary school in Tamala. She has been a teacher for four years and enjoys teaching French. “The Utah Alliance understands the importance of education and are helping children stay in school,” she said. “The Education Council helps as well as the teacher training and follow-up.” We are fortunate to partner with great educators like Kadiatou who are committed to their profession and teaching the children of Ouelessebougou.
